The “bless his (or her, or their) heart” meme has finally made it into national politics. Nancy Pelosi busted it out in response to some White House whining today.

The whole article is pretty interesting. Apparently the Democrats have decided they don’t have to be afraid of w anymore on account of his lame duck status and subterranean approval ratings. And it only took them six years!

I don’t really write critiques much, so maybe I’m confused. But aren’t critics supposed to do more than say, “Ah, they’re overrated” when delivering a negative review? Isn’t that just snark?

Just askin’. No reason.

Just posted something over there, and now the entire site is down. Beware my awesome power.

Also: Gosh, isn’t it weird how stuff is different now that I’m not in my twenties thirties anymore? Can’t you just taste the significance?

Our local paper has a fantastic feature on the food co-op where my wife works. We are very excited about next month’s big move to a newer and bigger location, which will make it one of the biggest co-ops in the state.

Chicago, on the other hand, has to limp along without any food co-ops, relying on corporate carcinogen-monger Whole Foods for their natural food needs. Not only do they sell some questionable products, but there are also the vermin to consider.

This is a shout-out to my friends who are attending the Green Party National Convention this weekend. The Greens have slate of four potential presidential nominees (none of whom is named Ralph Nader, btw). My personal fave is former congresswoman Cynthia McKinney.

You may not like the Greens. You may think of them as spoilers. You may even blame them for Bush and Iraq. You may think that this election year is too important for people to be messing around with third parties. I disagree with all of the above. Even if I didn’t, I’d still be happy that the Greens were around. Why? Because the status quo has got to change, and if the Democrats and Republicans can’t or won’t do it, we need a party that will.
